Chen DENG Elected as Member of the Fourth Leading Foreign Affairs Talent Pool

Guangdong, as a leading-edge representative of China's foreign trade and commerce as well as the exchange of international affairs, has a self-evident demand for talents in the field of laws related to foreign affairs. Especially in the strategic context of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in recent years, legal talents related to foreign affairs, as an important talent pool, are of great significance to the future construction of the Greater Bay Area. Despite the scarce supply of talents, the selection of the Leading Foreign Affairs Talent Pool in Guangdong Province is rigorous and highly competitive. Candidates applying for the lawyer talents of foreign affairs lawyers are all from nationally renowned law firms with excellent professional competency and extensive reputation. The Talent Pool is divided into three echelons, which are the Leading Talents, Pioneering Talents and Emerging Talents. In particular, the Leading Talents require "best of the best" performance. Besides the requirement of extensive experience in practicing law for more than 10 years, the candidates are required to show outstanding foreign language skills; not only must they have passed TEM-8 or equivalent, but they are also required to study abroad for over two years and provide over 15 pieces of foreign-related cases within five years as a priority selection condition.
In the selection of the fourth batch of Leading Foreign Affairs Talent Pool in Guangdong Province, only 14 candidates throughout the province were awarded this honor. As one of the only two lawyers selected from Guangzhou City, Chen DENG, from Hylands Guangzhou Office, was honored to be included in the list due to her excellent and pragmatic experience in foreign-related law practices. As a practice-oriented lawyer related to foreign affairs, Chen DENG has studied abroad for many years, received her J.D. degree in the United States, and worked in the United States for several years for law firms in various fields including wealth planning, corporate practice, repatriation debates, etc. Chen DENG currently has a primary practice in the areas of litigation, arbitration, compliance and sanctions involving the United States.
