Hylands Represents Anti-Dumping Investigation of Round Bars Against China by Chile
On May 26, 2021, the Commission for the Investigation of Price Distortions in Imports into Chile issued a notice: In light of the withdrawal of the complaint by the applicant, Compañía Siderúrgica Huachipato S.A. (hereinafter referred to as “CAP Acero”), the Commission for the Investigation of Price Distortions in Imports into Chile decided to terminate the anti-dumping investigation of round bars from China. In this case, the Trade Remedy Team from Hylands has represented all the respondent steel companies, including the subsidiaries of China Baowu Steel Group, Jiangsu Yonggang Group and Zenith Steel Group.
With the meticulous guidance of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the all-out coordination and mediation of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, the team of Hylands and representative enterprises have defended and made preparations for the case for more than 8 months. Having seen a large number of defenses and evidence submitted by the Chinese side, the applicant finally decided to withdraw the application, judging that there was no hope of winning the case.
The applicant in this case, CAP Acero, a Santiago-based steel company, was established in 1946 as an iron ore mining company and is the largest steel smelter and processor in Chile, with 10,000 direct and indirect employees, and is listed on the Santiago Stock Exchange IPSA. Members of Hylands, including Partner Qian SHEN, Lawyer Fen ZHOU and Intern Sining XU, have provided comprehensive and high-quality legal services for this anti-dumping complaint.
