On November 20, 2019, the appointment ceremony of honorary directors of the fourth council of China Legal Aid Foundation was held in Beijing. Attorney Miao ZHANG, a partner of Hylands Law Firm, was invited to serve as an honorary director of the fourth council of China Legal Aid Foundation.


Zhang YANZHEN, chairman of the China Legal Aid Foundation, said that “the China Legal Aid Foundation promotes people from all walks of life to actively participate in public welfare activities through public welfare projects, and is committed to creating a public welfare platform for the participation of all people. The China Legal Aid Foundation is actively working with all sectors of society and exchanges and cooperates with outstanding people who are engaged in public welfare undertakings. The joining of attorney Miao ZHANG will contribute to the foundation's various compliance work, legal consultation compliance, and even the promotion of legal education in society in the future. It will also help the foundation to contribute more to social charitable work, actively undertake responsibility and bring legal aid to those in need.”


Attorney Miao ZHANG graduated from the China University of Political Science and Law and the Renmin University of China and has worked in the Beijing Municipal Procuratorate for many years. Attorney ZHANG's clients include Fortune 500 companies and state-owned large and medium-sized enterprises. While continuously developing his professional capabilities, Attorney ZHANG actively participates in social public welfare undertakings, giving back to society and the industry. Attorney ZHANG will participate in the ‘Hylands welfare, for you and me’ Beijing Legal Aid Volunteer Service Plan, expand the breadth and depth of the volunteer service plan, give full play to the role and value of attorneys in China's legal aid work, and help the development of China's legal aid cause.


The China Legal Aid Foundation was initiated by the Ministry of Justice, approved by the State Council, and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 1997. It is the only national public offering foundation dedicated to the development of legal aid in China. In recent years, the foundation has been selected by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Justice, and CCTV's ‘Today's Statement’ column as ‘2005 Top Ten Legal Figures’, and was rated as ‘National Advanced Social Organization’ and ‘4A-level Social Organization’ by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and won the titles of ‘China's Top Ten Legal Figures’ and ‘China Charity Award’ and other honorary titles.
