Attorney Weiyu WU has a Doctor of Law from the China University of Political Science and Law. He is a senior partner of Hylands Law Firm and is also in charge of the criminal practice of the firm. WU has studied in the Department of Economics of the University of Limburg in Belgium and the Department of Law of the Free University of Brussels. He has obtained master's degrees in both management and law. After graduation, he worked in the EU headquarters, the European Parliament, and the European Court of Human Rights in Luxembourg. After returning to China, Attorney WU attended the master’s program in criminal law and obtained a doctoral degree in civil and commercial law from the China University of Political Science and Law. In 2008, Mr. WU joined the Hylands Law Firm. Attorney WU has represented nearly 200 major and difficult criminal cases, including the bribery cases of a secretary of a municipal legal committee in Guangdong Province and a director of a bureau in Beijing. He represented the criminal prosecution case of senior executives of Sinolight Group, and the criminal prosecution of China Development Bank, cases of embezzlement by senior executives, fund-raising fraud by senior executives of China Construction Group, series of fund-raising frauds by Hezhong Group, illegal funding of Shanlins, illegal funding cases of Yindou.com, illegal funding cases of Shengshi Huihai, etc., of which dozens of criminal cases are categorized by confidentiality, sensitivity, and major social impact, which are handled under supervision by the State Supervision Commission, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, the Beijing Municipal Supervision Commission, and Beijing-level public security organs.
