Jinfeng WU Appointed as an Arbitrator of the Nanjing Arbitration Commission

To promote the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the establishment of a diversified international commercial dispute resolution mechanism in the Jiangsu Free Trade Zone, the Nanjing Arbitration Commission issued an announcement on September 30, 2019, to recruit arbitrators from home and abroad to hear cases in international trade, maritime affairs, investment, intellectual property, finance, and other fields. The decision was intended to accelerate the construction of the Nanjing Arbitration Commission's international commercial dispute resolution platform, and to provide high-quality and efficient arbitration services for commercial entities in the Jiangsu Free Trade Zone For services. The appointment procedure followed a qualification review, professional assessment, preliminary selection, moral review, and appointment by the committee meeting. On August 20, 2020, the list of appointed arbitrators was announced with a total of 116, including 15 overseas personnel. The appointment is effective from August 27.
Attorney Jinfeng WU, partner of Hylands Law Firm’s Shanghai office was included in the list. Since Jinfeng WU is part of several arbitration institutions and considering his experiences as an arbitrator and chief arbitrator, he was appointed without taking the professional assessment.
Founded in 1998, Nanjing Arbitration Commission is located in Nanjing, which is the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, a famous historical and cultural city in China, and the capital of Jiangsu Province. Nanjing Arbitration Commission is the most important arbitration commission in Jiangsu Province. Before this appointment, the Nanjing Arbitration Commission had 643 arbitrators, who are experts and scholars in the fields of law, economy, trade, construction engineering, real estate, finance, and intellectual property.
Before this, Mr. Jinfeng WU had served as an arbitrator for the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Shanghai International Arbitration Center, and Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (Shenzhen Arbitration Commission). Attorney Jinfeng WU graduated from Columbia University Law School and Peking University Law School and has a Chinese attorney qualification and New York State attorney qualification. Attorney WU has been working in the legal industry for 20 years and is the founder of Huawei International Legal Department. He has participated in several cross-border trades, mergers and acquisitions projects, and many major cross-border commercial disputes.
