Hylands Wins the Seventh Five-Year Plan Advanced Team in Beijing

On August 25, 2021, Beijing held the summary meeting of the Seventh Five-Year Plan and the launch meeting of the Eighth Five-Year Plan, taking the lead in launching the legal literacy work of the Eighth Five-Year Plan in China. At the meeting, Yu HAN, Deputy Head of the Law Compliance and Law Popularization Coordination Group of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Municipal Internet Information Office, announced the decision to commend the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" advanced collectives and advanced individuals in Beijing. 296 advanced collectives and 295 advanced individuals, including Hylands Law Firm, were commended for their outstanding achievements in the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" period.

Hylands Law Firm was awarded the "2016-2020 Advanced Collective of Rule of Law Publicity" in Beijing. The Board of Directors and the Beijing Management Committee have attached great importance to the law firm's internal legal training and professional ethics education, and have designated a special department to be responsible for the training work of the entire Firm, to implement a strict training system, to formulate a thorough training plan, and to teach practical training courses. The Firm has maintained the habit of weekly training for many years. In addition to the practical training in various professional fields, the Firm also regularly engages in professional ethics education and lawyer practice standard education. In terms of leading Party building and direction, the Party members take the lead in the popularization of law From 2016 to 2020, about over 300 Party members have participated in the popularization of law in the Firm, which has given full play to the pioneering and exemplary role of Party members in the process of lawyers serving the society and maintaining social harmony and stability. For example, focusing on enterprise legal affairs, the Firm has provided legal publicity and legal service support to the overseas returnees of the European and American Associations and overseas Chinese of the Overseas Chinese Association, and won the "Outstanding Contribution Award"; focusing on intellectual property protection, the Firm has provided voluntary legal services for the Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympic Games for three consecutive years; and has participated in donations for education and legal literacy activities in poverty-stricken areas. 

Leveraging Professional Advantages and Focusing on Law Popularization 

Hylands has actively promoted and provided legal services for the implementation of "One Belt, One Road" and other major strategies, and participated in the editing of "One Belt, One Road" Practice Risk and Response - Legal Title (China Ocean Press, edited by Long Yongtu). The Firm has been actively providing legal support for the combating of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resumption of work and production, and has compiled and published Q&A on Practical Guidelines for the Purchase and Donation of Medical Protective Equipment for the reference of the State Drug Administration and local government departments; established a legal consultation service group to provide targeted legal consultation services for CBD area enterprises and talents (especially SMEs) on labor law, civil and commercial law and other issues arising from the impact of the pandemic. Furthermore, it has donated RMB 580,000 to initiate the establishment of a special fund for public interest legal services, which provides free public interest legal publicity and legal services for individual entrepreneurs and SMEs affected by the pandemic in Hubei. The Firm has actively participated in community legal public welfare activities, donated The Complete Book of Laws and Regulations of the People's Republic of China and General Knowledge of Legal Life to many communities in Beijing and the library of military police officers, set up legal service corners and provided legal lectures; since the Seventh Five-Year Plan, the Firm has served the community legal public welfare activities for over 1,000 hours on average. 

Donate Special Funds and Launch Volunteer Programs 

In 2019, Hylands donated RMB 1 million to Beijing Legal Aid Foundation as the initial start-up fund to establish the " Hylands - Public Welfare Initiative" volunteer service program, and donated RMB 500,000 each year for the following three years to provide targeted financial support. The Project focuses on the promotion of the rule of law, and is close to the basic needs of the public for rule of law publicity and legal services, with seven major programs and N extended sub-activities, such as the Intern Lawyer Service Program, Youth Campus Legal Promotion Program, Justice and Rights Assistance Program, Public Welfare Promotion Program, Legal Talent Training Program, Volunteer Team Recruitment Program, and Remote Suburban Support Program. Since 2018, the Firm has been continuously supporting the "Western Lawyers Training Program" sponsored by the Beijing Legal Aid Foundation, donating RMB 80,000 per year to the Program, and RMB 240,000 by 2020, to support lawyers from 12 western provincial regions to come to Beijing to study and improve their comprehensive quality and practice levels.

According to incomplete statistics, during the period of "Seventh Five-Year Plan", Hylands has published more than one thousand professional articles in various professional legal journals, magazines, websites, public WeChat accounts (including Hylands Law Review) and other platforms and carriers, which have thoroughly discussed and publicized the legal knowledge and legal issues in various fields in the professional field and society, and aroused positive reactions from the society.
