Hylands Successfully Held the First Joint (Extended) Meeting of the National Board of Directors and the National Board of Supervisors in 2022

On January 14, 2022, Hylands Law Firm's first joint (extended) meeting of the National Board of Directors and the National Board of Supervisors 2022 was held in the form of a combination of online and offline modes. A total of 26 partners attended the meeting, including Lawyer Hong LIU, Director of Hylands Law Firm, Lawyer Zhengfu ZHU, Chairman of the National Partner Congress, Lawyer Qi JIANG, Chairman of the National Board of Directors (to be appointed), and Lawyer Zhangjian PENG, Chairman of the National Board of Supervisors, Beijing Lawyer Yu XU, Director of the Office Management Committee, other members of the National Board of Directors, the National Board of Supervisors, and the Beijing Office Management Committee.

Attorney Zhengfu ZHU, chairman of the National Partner Congress, delivered a welcome speech, pointing out that with the promotion of the firm's informatization construction, it has become more efficient to hold a national conference in the online format. Lawyer Zhengfu ZHU emphasized that firms and lawyers should adhere to the people-centered development concept, and strive to build themselves as people's lawyers by always placing the people's interests first. Firms should actively carry out public welfare legal services and legal aid to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people, especially the disadvantaged.

Lawyer Yu XU presided over the meeting and introduced the meeting agenda and motion content to the attendees in detail.  At the summit, the joint (extended) meeting of the National Board of Directors and the National Board of Supervisors reviewed and approved the ‘Proposal on Adding Qi JIANG as a Member of the National Board of Directors’ and ‘Proposal of the Chairman of the Board of Directors About Hong LIU's Resignation as Chairman of the National Board of Directors and Electing Qi JIANG as a National Board Member’, and,  ‘Proposal on Approving Zhu Jianing's Resignation as a Member of the National Board of Supervisors and Adding Huang Chunyang as a Member of the National Board of Supervisors’.  The aforementioned proposals will be finally submitted to the National Partner Congress for deliberation.

Attorney Qi JIANG presented a work report on ‘Strong Middle Office, Integrated Development’ to the joint meeting of the National Board of Directors and the National Board of Supervisors, explaining the firm's integrated development plan from four aspects: vision, integrated development, middle office strategy, and professional team building.  Lawyer Qi JIANG emphasized that integration includes brand integration, middle office integration, customer integration, system integration, salary integration, and profit integration.  The middle office strategy is divided into five parts: brand management, bidding management, case management, client management, and risk control management.  With regard to the construction of professional teams, the firm's practice areas are divided into 20 categories, and then 20 large business centers are built, and the ‘seedling plan’ is implemented to train potential lawyers into promising partners.

Lawyer Miao ZHANG presented a work report on the ‘Proposal on the Establishment of Hylands Development Fund’ to the joint meeting of the National Board of Directors and the National Board of Supervisors.  She pointed out that in order to promote the development of the firm to a new height, the firm should establish a strong middle office, implement the integration strategy, and promote the ‘common progress and common development’ of offices around the world.  Therefore, the firm needs to set up Hylands Development Fund.  Lawyer Miao ZHANG elaborated the main content of the Hylands Development Fund from three aspects of fundraising, use, and management.

Members of the National Board of Directors and the National Board of Supervisors had in-depth discussions and exchanges on issues such as the integrated development strategy, the establishment of the Hylands Development Fund, and the ‘Articles of Association of Hylands Law Firm (National) (Revised Draft)’, and finally discussed and approved the ‘Proposal on the Establishment of Hylands Development Fund’ and submitted it to the National Partner Congress for review.  At the same time, it was approved to further revise the ‘Hylands Law Firm (National) Articles of Association (Amendment)’.

Lawyer Zhangjian PENG, chairman of the National Board of Supervisors, concluded that despite the recent severe pandemic situation, the successful holding of this meeting is a great encouragement to everyone and has injected strong impetus into the future development of the law firm. In addition, through this meeting, he also extended a warm welcome to the colleagues who have recently joined the Hylands. “You are the future of Hylands. Finally, I would like to express my New Year greetings to all members of the National Board of Directors, the National Board of Supervisors, and other members attending this meeting. I wish you all a new high in 2022!”, he concluded.

Lawyer Hong LIU, director of Hylands Law Firm, suggested that members of the national board of directors, board of supervisors, and management committees must take a long-term view, constantly improve their knowledge structure and cognition, and aspire to make greater contributions to the development of the firm. At the same time, he emphasized that by unswervingly implementing the integrated development policy, the development of Hylands will reach a new height.
