On August 4, 2020, the signing ceremony of Hylands Legal Aid for Public Welfare - Trainee Lawyer Service Plan was successfully held at the Judicial Bureau of Chaoyang District, Beijing.

Qiumei Jia, deputy director of the Public Legal Service Management Division of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice, Lingchun Gao, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Legal Aid Foundation, Shuihua Tan, deputy director of the Chaoyang District Justice Bureau,  Wenhao Dong, member of the management committee and partner of Hylands Law Firm attended the ceremony.  Wenhui Xu, head of the Public Service Section of the Judicial Bureau of Chaoyang District, presided over the ceremony.

At the ceremony, the Beijing Legal Aid Foundation and the Chaoyang District Judicial Bureau signed a cooperation agreement on the Trainee Lawyer Service Plan project. The signing of this agreement marked the launch of the Hylands Legal Aid for Public Welfare - Trainee Lawyer Service Plan project in Chaoyang District.

Lawyer Wenhao Dong, a member of the Management Committee and partner of Hylands, expressed his heartfelt thanks to all parties that support the project. Chinese legal industry expanded quickly in the last 40 years. But the Chinese lawyers have never forgotten their original aspirations and are always committed to aiding people in need, especially vulnerable groups. Safeguarding the basic rights of the people, and contributing to the construction of the rule of law is paramount for the legal fraternity in China. Hylands has devoted a lot of time and resources to provide legal aid services for the needy in society. In 2018 and 2019, it provided legal aid to about 110 criminal cases in Chaoyang District, of which 88 cases were closed and 33 cases were suspended, ranking first in Chaoyang District, representing the firm’s commitment to ‘becoming a law firm with a sense of social responsibility’. We encourage lawyers to devote themselves to public welfare undertakings, shoulder social responsibilities bravely, and make greater contributions to legal aid work Finally, Mr. Dong wished the project all the very best and smooth functioning. 

Lingchun Gao, deputy secretary-general of the Municipal Legal Aid Foundation, said that under the guidance of the Public Legal Service Management Office of the Municipal Judicial Bureau and with the support of the Chaoyang District Judicial Bureau, the Trainee Lawyer Service Plan is successfully launched in Chaoyang District. In implementing the project, all parties should strictly follow the project requirements, fulfill the Cooperation Agreement, work diligently, accumulate project experience, and recruit more trainee lawyers to join this work. 

Shuihua Tan, deputy director of Chaoyang District Judicial Bureau, first expressed his gratitude to the Municipal Judicial Bureau, Municipal Foundation, and Hylands Law Firm on behalf of the District Judicial Bureau. He mentioned that relevant departments of the Judiciary Bureau must provide support to facilitate the project.

Qiumei Jia, deputy director of the Public Legal Service Management Division of the Municipal Bureau of Justice, said that the aim of the Trainee Lawyer Service Plan project launched in Chaoyang District is to encourage more trainee lawyers to participate in legal aid work, cultivate trainee lawyers' public spirit, and construct an effective legal aid service team. The plan is a specific action to implement the requirements of the leaders of the Municipal Bureau of Justice. He urged all parties involved in the cooperation to strengthen cooperation and implement the project effectively. 

Representatives of the Municipal Legal Aid Foundation, Beijing Hylands, relevant departments of the Chaoyang District Judicial Bureau, and trainee lawyers attended the ceremony.

Hylands Legal Aid for Public Welfare – Trainee Lawyer Service Plan project will inspire the lawyers, social forces, and students to actively participate in legal aid and public legal services, and will accelerate the construction of the city's public legal service system.
